A big part of self care is getting moving but when we are so busy helping everyone else, thinking about EVERYTHING that needs to happen in the weeks to come. It’s so easy for us as mama’s it to fall to the way side and revert into survival mode #truth
The problem is OUR cup needs to be filled first for us to give to others. So it’s time to take charge of your routine, to schedule yourself as a priority and to make time for you.
Getting moving isn’t just for physical benefits its for how it makes us feel, it brings clarity and patience to our days and it releases feel good endorphins. Which after my two toddlers have said no to me 3304.9 times in a day I need #yesido
So getting a movement routine happening THIS week and not waiting a few weeks is so important. You will be so happy you started now and not then #trustme
Here are some top tips to get moving, increasing your energy AND loving on yourself by showing you what your amazing body is capable of:
This one is really really important. You need to start where you are, so if you have not worked out in ages DON’T go smash yourself at a class. Get moving with power walking and ease into strength training, or go to a new workout class and listen to your body. But start where you are and be consistent. SO right now, Take 2 mins to think where your level of fitness is, and what would FIT into your schedule. Can you shift a few things around to make a time slot? Can you do morning walks or bike rides? Are your kids slower in the mornings and you can workout at home with them?
Make a plan. You NEED to know WHEN you are getting moving and PLAN it into your week. Are you doing 3x 30 minute workouts Monday, Wednesday, Friday? Or daily 30 min walks, or when you make dinner and kids are busy you will do 15 minutes of strength. I do this ALL the time! It all adds up and gets me through the 4pm slump! You must know when. You need to have the plan to then execute for success.
This next step is really important holding yourself accountable. I KNOW that sometimes it is the last thing we ever want. We just want to sit and pour coffee on our faces and wallow into our pajamas (haha!) BUT moving will make you feel 10x better EVERY single time. SO just do it. Get your workout gear on, get out for a walk, you and your littles will appreciate the change of scenery.
Execute. A very famous company once said “JUST DO IT”. Like I said above you can’t get the perks of exercising without doing it. It’s something we need to EARN and be proud of any and all movement that you do!
Be consistent. The real truth about healthy living is that you need to be consistent, it’s all about the long game. Movement is therapy and it is a stress release and something that we SO desperately need.
So this week ensure you set yourself up for success. Get moving. Feel amazing and be proud of yourself. We are capable of so much more than we give ourselves credit for.
You can do this and fall in love with a commitment to movement for you, for your sanity, for your patience and for your kids to see that mama looks after her self.
